Hi Kevin. There's a lot of this kind of stuff going on at educational and technological academic conferences, whereas in my experience literature conferences are lucky if there's internet access.

Formalising the interactions - bringing them in as part of the main presentation - is another matter, and if anybody is interested in thinking about this, CELT would be delighted to get involved.

People who don't have a clear idea of what the technologies can do could have a look at the recording of Karen Hyder's basic introduction, 'Taking Cues from Virtual Online Sessions; Engaging Learners Face-to-Face with Different Tools' - 9pm on Wed 18th Feb - linked from http://www.aace.org/conf/spaces/speakers/). This is a meta presentation - she is putting the software through its paces - but it's good (and still quite rare) to see a confident, experienced online presenter explaining the interactive environment. The interactions of the participants are recorded along with the presenter's voice and slides and - particularly interesting - the way she warmly acknowledges the different communications from her participants. I wonder if this opens up any possibilities for colleagues.

(By the way, Hyder's presentation is a recording of a live online session - this is why people viewing now don't get the range of options that the participants who connected live did.)
