ESSENTIAL REPAIR WORK IN THE RUTHERFORD BUILDING & LIBRARY

Monday 16th & Tuesday 17th February 2009
A message from Rachael Johnson, Head of User Services, IT Services:

THE PROBLEM: A manufacturing fault in a component used in networkpoints on the ground floor has been causing some Macs and PCs to lose theirconnection to the College network.

THE SOLUTION: External engineers will be repairing all new networkpoints as a precautionary measure. Computers will be offline for a short periodof time to repair and test each connection – up to 30 minutes per computer;longer for clusters of computers. It is probably better not to use thecomputers while they are offline.

Services in all other parts of the building will remain unaffected.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
