The final stage of remodelling in the Rutherford Building Ground Floor refurbishment project is now ready to proceed, and to facilitate this the Rutherford Building will be closed on Saturday January 31st 2009. There will be no access to Library and IT Open Access facilities on this day.

The building's turnstiles will be moved to a new position closer to the main entrance. There will be a new Reception desk and a new turnstile allowing unassisted wheelchair access. The move will also create more space for the popular communal area outside the Assistive Technology Centre (ATC).

Please note that from Monday 2nd February there will be no access to the building from the Warmington Tower quadrangle; these doors will become an emergency exit only. The building will reopen and normal services are planned to resume on Sunday 1st February. Online services will not be affected; from any Internet-connected computer you will be able to access the following resources:
  • learn.gold (https://azgold01a0101.gold.cdl.cosector.com/)
  • the Library catalogue (http://libra.gold.ac.uk/)
  • the Library databases (http://libweb.gold.ac.uk/elecres/oia.php)
  • your files on you "Homes"/N: drive area (https://secure.gold.ac.uk/webshare)
We apologise for any inconvenience that this closure may cause you. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We always value feedback on the building's facilities and use it in our development plans to help improve services. Please do let us know your opinions and ideas concerning the building's services by emailing rb-feedback@gold.ac.uk.
